Solør Bioenergi Varme AS acquires Eidefoss Biovarme AS
Solør Bioenergi Varme AS, a part of Solör Bioenergy Group, has announced that the company is acquiring Eidefoss Biovarme AS from AS Eidefoss. The purchase includes the district heating plant in Otta in Sel municipality. Solør Bioenergi will now develop the business further in close cooperation with customers and local authorities.
– Development of the district heating at Otta has taken place in good cooperation between Eidefoss Biovarme and the municipality, which has supported the municipality’s growth and climate goals in a good way. Ensuring competitive green energy with high security of supply to both industrial, commercial and private customers is of course important to us. We welcome that the business now has new ownership that will develop the business further and we look forward to a good and constructive collaboration with the new owners, says municipal manager Eldri Siem in Sel municipality.
Since the start in 2003, Solör Bioenergy Group has developed to become a leader in renewable energy in Norway and Sweden and today has more than 2.5 Twh in total energy deliveries.
– With the acquisition of the district heating plant at Otta, Solør Bioenergi strengthens its investment in the Inland region. We look forward to supporting Sel municipality’s plans for the development of Otta by offering further development of sustainable heating solutions in the area. The investment in district heating has been – and is – very important to reach overall climate goals. In addition, district heating contributes to relieving the load on the electricity grid, which in turn reduces society’s investment needs, and frees up a lot of electricity capacity for more appropriate purposes than heating, for example electric car charging, says Hans M. Moss, chairman of Solør Bioenergi Varme AS.
As a representative of the selling shareholders in AS Eidefoss, MD Hans Kolden is satisfied that it is industrial and long-term owners who will develop the business further.
– Our investment in the facility at Otta has been a small activity for the Eidefoss group, both financially and in relation to working hours from employees. This is a good industrial solution for the Eidefoss group in relation to our main focus areas going forward. The day-to-day operation of the facility will also be largely handled by employees in Eidefoss and we are very satisfied with that, says Hans Kolden.
